Are you studying very hard thesedays? We are interested in study English. That's why we came here to learn English. In my case, I've learned Engish since elementary school but I can't do well. What do I have problem? I think I've never studied English very hard before I came here. We are learning about Grammar, Reading Writing, Listening, Speaking. Which one is the most important to improve our English? I would like talk about how we can improve our English better and better.


  First, we should study English more fun.
Are you feel stressful with English? If you feel that, you don't have to worry about it. When you study it, you use the mass media. Sometimes, when I am bored, I watch English movie or cartoons. Watching a movie is better than studying it on the desk. We have many kinds of ways to learn English such as watching Disnney movie, Drama, Movie and reading a commic book, a novel book and so on.


  Secondly, repeated practice is important in learning English.
When a baby learn "mom" word, he usually practice speaking around 1,000 times. We should repeat practicing English because we are adults. If you want to practice, you had better talk with your friend than study by yourself in library. Also, English is not our first language. We should practice pronunciation and making a sentence over and over again. When you text your friend, you should text in English. If you not, you can try it from now on. The harder you study, the better you get.

  In conclusion, we can play with English. We feel like English is best friend. Also, practice is very important. If you study review over and over again, you would understand perfetly in the future. After finish this semester, we should study more and more hard. Don't give up. We can do it!

What is one of the worst problems affecting the environment right now? (In your own country or all over the world.) How did it happen? What problems does it cause? What can be done about it? What do you do to solve it?

   

I think I am an environmentalist. When I see lots of trash in garbage can or someone throw out some food, I feel hard. So, I usually try to keep clean nature. I think polar bear is the worst problems affecting the environment.

    

Polar bear deaths due to global warming are of increasing concern, and new studies speculate that Polar Bears may face possible extinction. Most dangerous is the fact that as global warming increases, Polar Bears will have a difficult time finding food. In fact, numerous polar bears are feeling the effects of a shortage of food and are facing starvation.

    

I want to keep cleaning on the earth and keep living polar bear. However, I can't help lots of something for polar bear. I think we should do separate collection such as cans, bottles, boxes, plastic bags etc. Also, we should not waste food and water. In Canada, many people throw out lots of food without separate collection. Whenever I came here, I saw doing that people throw out without separate collection. I was suprised.

    

Therefore, we should keep cleaning our planet and polar bear.

When you were young, have you liked watching cartoons? If you have, do you remember cartoons that you watched? I have a good momory. When I was young, I've liked watching cartoons. However, most of people says, "Cartoons are usually not good for kids." I want to tell you about a cartoon that I watched when I was young. I also want to tell you about it's pros.


First,  This is Sailor Moon. It came from japan.
When I was elementary grade 4, whenever school was finished, I got home to watch Sailor Moon as soon as possible. My friends and me used to buy  about sailor moon things such as stickers, magic stick and hair bands  from toy store. I think that I've got interesting feeling, justice from this cartoon.




Second, This is Dooly that is korea cartoon.
Dooly is a green color dinosaur. Dounu is his friend. He is alien with yello hair and red nose. His other friends are cute baby and ostrich. When I was young, it was very popular in korea. Everyone liked it. Therfore, new version was remade. I'm glad to watch it again.
While I was watching the new version, I felt nostalgic.





Nowadays, I don't like computer graphic picture of cartoon. Usually, most cartoonist made cartoon by computer. When I was young, they had drown by hand in person.  Cartoons that drew by cartoonist in person give feeling like warm. I miss that feeling. I don't like much more watching cartoon than when I was young. However, I still like watching cartoon. :)

In korea, we have two big holidays every year. we call it one is sur-nar, new year's day, and the other one is chu-suk that is Korean harvest celebration. We usually visit to grand prarent's house for 3days. In first day of holiday, we prepare many food for celebrating with family. Usually, All daughter-in-law prepare all food. In the other hand, Most of son don't work much. For example, when my family go to my grand parents house during holiday, whenever we've got there, my mom work something as soon as possible. But, my father only eats, sleeps, watch TV all day. I don't like that situation, but it is korean culture. Because we've had confucian ideas since long time ago. Most of people, they prefer to get boy baby. I can agree with my culture. I don't want to live with that idea. I think male and female are equal. So, we should change in our mind about guy is better that lady. But some of guy don't want to change that culture. I hate it. 
Most of girls can do it everything. But many guys don't trust us. Because of girls. These days I think many girls are better that many boys about study, arts and so on. I don't want to distinguish from people.    

Islamic Awareness Week


In Islamic Awareness week until Feb 17, Muslim Students Association set up booths and exhibitions in Machall Norh Courtyard. Anyone can drop by, take a look and learn about Muslim. They want to tear down the misconceptions out there about Islam where there has been a lot of controversy. Sometimes what you hear in the media isn't really portrayed properly or sometimes you only get bits and pieces.

Have you visited famous places in Alberta?
We have lived in calgary but we don't know well about it. And when you can go to somewhere, we usually visit Lake Louise and Banff. Let you know about AB and famous places in AB.

First, Alberta is named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta (1848–1939), who was the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria. Lake Louise, the village of Caroline, and Mount Alberta were also named in honour of Princess Louise.

Second, This is famous places in canada. We call it "Writing-on-Stone National Park"

Near the Alberta/Montana border and just 44 km east of the small town of Milk River is Writing-on-Stone National Park. Canada recently nominated the park to UNESCO for World Heritage status. The park boasts over 50 stone-carved images created by the Blackfoot Native Americans, which date as far back as 7000 B.C.

During World War II Canada gathered thousands of Japanese Canadians near Lethbridge. When the war ended many people decided to stay in the area. To make the huge land feel more like home they built a Japanese Garden near the center of the town and it has been a highlight for many tourists since.

In Alberta, there are many beautiful places. Although we couldn't go to famous places, we just know that places. When we back to our country, we can tell friends, family about AB. Actually, I haven't visited many places in canada yet. Hopefully, before I went to back korea, I want to visit interesting places.

What is the most 'extreme' thing you've ever done? Skydiving? Bungee jumping?

 In Korea, there is amusement park that we call it 'Lotte World'. There are many rides. Especially, One of rides is gyrodrop. Its height is 78m that is kind of 28th floor in an apartment. And it takes 3 seconds from top of the ride to bottom of it. I gonna tell you about gyrodrop.

 Seoul is the capital of Korea. Two years ago, my brother, my cousin and me went to seoul to travel. We wanted to go to Lotte world and bought tickets for a day. I like riding a roller coaster. So, I road many kinds of roller coaster. When I didn't want to ride roller coaster anymore, I wanted gyrodrop. While I saw gyrodrop,  it gave me a scare. But I wanted to try riding that and I sat on the chair in the gyrodrop. It was going up while it was turnnig around. And when it was top of the gyrodrop, it was stop turnning. I didn't know when it go down. When i was talking with my cousin, it suddenly went down. I was scared to death. Frankly speaking, I don't want to ride gyrodrop anymore.

 When we want to ride extreme something, not only we can enjoy that but also we have to be becareful anytime.

This is outside of Lotte world that have indoor and outdoor.

It is gyrodrop and can go up to 78m.

 Have you ever eaten Timbits?

 I want to lose my weights. But It is too hard to me. Because whenever I work at timhortons, I usually eat some Timbits. Especially, My favorite is Chocolate glazed. Many people like Timbits. We can eat lithly because it is smaller than regular doughnuts. We think about it that hasn't lots of calories. But they have lots of calories than we think.

 My favorit timbits is chocolate glazed. When I eat it, i can get 70 calories. For woman, they should get 2,000~2,100 calories a day. If I eat ham & cheese sandwich that is around 400 calories each that for 3 meals, I already get 1,200 calories. In addition, If I buy box of 10 chocolate glazed Timbits, I can get more 700 calores. It is horrible. Do you know what most best selling is? That is sour cream glazed. It has 90 calories each. If you get 20 sour cream glazed, u can have 1,800 calories. Unfortunately, we are often sold out of it.

 When we eat timbits, we have to be careful of eating it. While i am working, I don't have to eat too much.

FRAUD!
Write about a scam you know about or saw. Describe the scam. Would you be tricked? Who might be tricked by this scam?

I have experience related with scam. It happend in Canada. I can work unrestricted because I have an  open work permit. While I was looking for a job, I found a job search website. I wanted their help getting a job. While I was looking around their homepage, some pop-ups were showing me information about jobs. It said "If you want to get a job, coupons, or gifts, you can give us ur name and phone number. I felt strange about this, but in Korea, it is not much of a problem. I didn't worry about it. After I told them my information, they texted me immediately. Later on, I kept getting messages from a third party. I didn't worry about it. Usually, I pay around $40 at the begining of each month for my phone. At that time, I got a strange phone bill. They charged me $70. I didn't know why. I kept getting strange messages for two months. The second bill charged me around $60. After I did some research about third partys' on google, I found out that it was phone fraud. I knew how to do stop the messages. After I texted "Stop" to them, they didn't text me anymore.

I wanted to get some infomation on jobs, but I lost money when I gave my information to them.

I would be tricked because Korea and Canada have different fraud cultures. I didn't know that. Also, old people and foreigners, like me, who don't understand might be tricked by this scam.

I want to talk about Starbucks. Starbucks is very popular in the world. They have more than 50 stores in different countries. In korea, After eating with friends we often go to starbucks. Do you know why it is popular with people?

I think they have good marketing for customer. They have many kinds of coffee to choose from. They make coffee themselves for us. They can take special orders. On the other hand, they sell expensive things. In korea, people think starbucks coffee is the best among coffee companies. When they drink something at starbucks, they feel like they are rich.

Starbucks has good marketing for customer. They provide the best customer service, because they can take special orders. But, it is more expensive than other coffee stores. Overall, It is the most popular coffee shop in the world.

Think of an ad (TV, billboard or magazine) that you like. Describe the ad. What happens in it? Why do you remember it? Why do you like it? Do you think it can convince people to buy the product? Why or why not?

I want to tell you Toyota Prius V. First, Back ground music sounds happy. This commercial show us back of a Prius V first. Hatch of the car opens to show lots of material. These are beach ball, suite case, emp, and 2 paper bags.  And we can see paper bag inside. There is Prius V in beautiful garden. Some girl is pulling out a giant carrot. And then, we can go to suite case next paper bag. We can see inside suite case. There is Prius V on beautiful hill. Next to Prius V are some people, floating big air ballon. And we can move on another material. This is a guitar amp. We can see inside guitar amp. There are many people having a party in guitar amp. It seems enjoying. Prius V is with many people in guitar amp. Last scene, we can see moon out of window which is smiling.

Back ground scene of Prius V are colorful, beautiful, feeling like warm. When i watch this movie, i always think that it feels warm and i want to take a rest with my family.
Most of people live busily. They want to take a rest and go on a travel. So that's why, when it comes on TV, people want to buy Prius V to take a rest. In my opinion, it can convince people to buy this car.
